Its a Cattleya hybrid of some sort. Unfortunately, because it is a hybrid, you aren't likely to get an ID.

Looks like it might have Barkeria in its background.

It sure is pretty though!

Thanks terpguy, cattleya? Well that caught me off guard, I did not even guess cattleya because the psoudobulbs are short and stucky so I was thinking an epidendrum. The flower do look like a cattleya type though and they grow off a long stem. Also the leaves look like cattleya being byfoilate. I repotted it into a bark mix and because I didn't know what it was decided to ask my family here. I am very please. I hope it will thrive in this media you mention the name BARKERAI could you tell me what that means? Thanks again. VELLETA

Look around google. Barkeria is a genus of orchid, like cattleya. They are actually cattleya relatives and are often interbred with epidendrums, Laelia, and cattleyas.

Allymarie I got this orchid from my daughter(she's twelve) she went with her dad to visit one of his friends and saw it, she told the person politely your orchid is very pretty and my mom loves orchids, could you please give me a piece for her? The man was so amaized by her, that he removed a piece carefully wrapped it in some news paper and gave it to her when she came home she ran from the truck shouting mommy, mommy I brought you An orchid! I said did you? she said yes and daddy didn't ask I did. Her dad said that he didn't ask because he did not know the friend would have given it to him seeing it was the only plant. And the friend said its because she was the one who ask why she got it because he didn't even have a second one and that how I got it. Its really a pretty one. VELLETA.
