My gift to myself!

I was given a grocery store phal a couple years ago - Fernando looked great, bloomed for a while, then his blooms fell off and I cut back the spike. I've been watering and watching him ever since - and then last week, I saw a new spike forming! So excited!

So today on my lunch break I bought myself a celebratory "I can take care of an orchid and not kill it" gift. This is Phil the Phal, and he'll be living in my office unless the light proves to be insufficient. He's quite the cheery addition to my space, and I have been smiling all afternoon.

'He' is lovely! The details of purple veins on the white petals are really nice!

I've found that having beautiful things around me is motivating - I decluttered my office this afternoon!

I agree, very handsome. Also, my husband and I realized last night that Phil is an orchid of many personalities. Here are just a few:

Phil Nye the Science Guy (bow tie and a beaker tucked in the pot)

Phil Cosby (Christmas scarf around the pot)

Phil and Grace (paired with a poinsettia buddy)

Phil Gates (glasses on a skewer, monopoly money sticking out of the pot)
