Hi I just posted a pic of a paph I got last week, no name of course but I think it's pretty common, if anyone has a name that would be great. Thanks

Terry

Terry, You have a very nice looking flower!

You might have a Paphiopedilum Maudiae hybrid (Paphiopedilum callosum x Paphiopedilum lawrenceanum) or one of the nearly 3,000 Paphiopedilum Maudiae hybrid progeny that have already been registered with the RHS in London, England or one of the even larger number of hybrids which were never registered (similar to puppy mill operations).

You might have a different hybrid.

ID? Enjoy your flowering orchid for what it is! If you are looking for an ID, I suggest that you be a little more "selective" in the future. While you admire your plant, before you pay, look for an ID tag.

Stitz, thanks for the comment Maudiae hybird is good enough for me! I'm not an intense orchid grower I don't mind not having a name noids are ok with me. This one only makes my third orchid, the first one is a noid den.I've had it for about a year it was blooming when I bought it. I'm just excited that it's starting to spike, it had several keikis but this growth is right on the top of a pb and is rounded not pointy (got my fingers crossed). And the other one is a NAMED cattleya that I won when I started going to orchid society meetings. Being that I bought it from a grocery store I had no expectations of ever getting an exact name just wanted a ballpark guess. Thanks
