| I use Physan 20 but I only use it when the plants are outside. People have posted in the past about using Listerine mouthwash ( original formula, not the flavored ones) with good results. I think as a rule of thumb you could use sprays made for roses on orchids without any problems. Don't use copper based sprays on Dendrobiums. Over the summer I picked up a cinnamon tree. I boiled some leaves and put the "tea" in a spray bottle. I don't know if it will work but cinnamon is supposed to have anti fungal qualities and it smells good. I also use Windex as a bug spray and anti bacterial Fantastic on my plants. |

| I use various home-made sprays which contain Cinnamon and alcohol. The most important thing is to have good air movement and watch the humidity indoors. It is not necessary to keep the humidity too high even with good air movement. I believe the lack of fresh air creates the fungal problems growing indoors. Most orchids do quite well with low humidity over winter. Keep your grow room on the dry side and your plants will be fine. If you see some fungal problems, try some cinnamon, alcohol, water and a bit of oil and spray the leaves. I buy cinnamon oil in Trader Joes, Whole Foods or most organic stores. It is easier to use and more concentrated. Just use a few drops in a spray bottle. Jane |
