Or as the RHS calls it Cattlianthe Molly Tyler, is in bloom right now. It is a great historical plant registered in 1930.
This is the first time it has bloomed since I started taking care of this collection. Very pretty. |

| Very nice flower foto! "It is a great historical plant" Will you please elaborate? I noticed that there were 3 AOS flower quality awards for this hybrid from 1937 - 1964, including an FCC in '37. Thanks, --Stitz-- |

| Perhaps I was overstating. This is of historical interest but I don't know all the steps taking this plant back to Dixon in 1930. I can trace this plant back to Sea God Nursery for certain, and they are likely to have had an early division. I don't believe this is a division of an awarded plant which also leads me to think this is from an early division. |

| It is interesting that this and similar types of Cluster Laeliinae hybrids are still competitive on the show-bench after all these years. A glance at the RHS register shows that Molly Tyler was used as a parent over 60 times so there must be lots of "grand-children". |
