Or as the RHS calls it Cattlianthe Molly Tyler, is in bloom right now. It is a great historical plant registered in 1930.

This is the first time it has bloomed since I started taking care of this collection. Very pretty.

Very nice flower foto!

"It is a great historical plant"

Will you please elaborate? I noticed that there were 3 AOS flower quality awards for this hybrid from 1937 - 1964, including an FCC in '37.

Thanks,

Perhaps I was overstating. This is of historical interest but I don't know all the steps taking this plant back to Dixon in 1930.

I can trace this plant back to Sea God Nursery for certain, and they are likely to have had an early division.

I don't believe this is a division of an awarded plant which also leads me to think this is from an early division.

It is interesting that this and similar types of Cluster Laeliinae hybrids are still competitive on the show-bench after all these years. A glance at the RHS register shows that Molly Tyler was used as a parent over 60 times so there must be lots of "grand-children".
