| Hello Again,
I've got a few phalaenopsis in fir bark and terracotta orchid pots (holes on sides) that I like to water by immersing the pot for 10 minutes or so. I imagine that it is probably best to immerse them in water that is a 1/4 strength fertilizer solution. However, seeing as though I have to throw out the water between plants, this seems to waste a lot of fertilizer. Wondering how you guys/gals fertilize when you water by immersion. Is it OK to immerse in normal water and then pour a little water w/ fertilizer solution over the plant afterwards? (with the caveat that the bark is probably already fairly saturated w/ water at that time) |

| I'm curious as well to see if the diluted form suggested is meant to be used "as is" in a dunk, if the plant should be pre-dunked ;) in plain water. I have a few other house plants as well as ones on my balcony, so they get the excess... |

| Didn't think of re-using the water for my other houseplants...pretty simple solution to my problem. Thanks! |

| I'm not sure if what I do is right, all my orchids do well this way, my sink holds about 5gal of water I mix 1/2 the amount called for and let my orchids sit for at least 15 min.I can get 6 6inch pots in the sink at one time, I don't worry about reusing the water I just let it drain and then re fill it for the next set of plants, I also put my mounted orchids in the water and let them sit for the same amount of time, but the mounted ones get watered 2/3 time a week in the winter because of the heat on in the house.
