| My fiance found a very sad looking phal for sale and brought it home for me to try to resuscitate. The roots look ok but I'm concerned about this yellow discoloration on one of the leaves. Could this be caused by virus?

Thanks in advance! |

| Hi Ateles, It looks like some sort of bacterial infection to me. I'd still isolate it for a bit to prevent the spread of bacteria to your other plants. If you want to know for sure, Critter Creek lab will test it for you for $5. Good luck and keep us posted on your new phal! Steph |

| Thanks for the response, Steph. Do you think I should I trim that area from the leaf? |

| I think that might be best. Cut-in two inches from the edge of the yellow halo areas (just to make sure you've got only healthy tissue left). Keep it in a warm place (80*F) or a sunny place (south, se, or sw windows), no misting, no water on the leaves. If some of those spots come back, you can try hydrogen peroxide, cinnamon, or Neosporin on the affected areas. But I think it'll be fine once it gets adapted to your living conditions. Just makes sure to keep it warm and bright while it is recuperating. Good Luck! |
