With the exception of marine plants (like seagrass) adapted to the osmotic stress, plants can't handle salt. Salt causes plant cells to rupture, and depending on the dose would seriously damage if not kill the plants. Additionally, few plants do well in soils containing high levels of salt. Beer traps and similar methods are a better choice.

Whew! Glad I asked! Lol. Thank you.

Think of what salt does to ham and bacon ..... it 'pulls' the moisture from cells, as Nicole pointed out, causing plasma to be torn from rigid cells walls (which kills the cells) in a process called plasmolysis, commonly called fertilizer burn. Al

Beer traps and similar methods are a better choice. I bought plans for a beer trap out of the back of a magazine. Didn't catch a single beer. Frickin' rip off.
