There are several organic insecticides on the market you could look into. I use Organicide in my garden, which contains a good bit of neem oil. It seems to work well, as an insecticide and fungicide.

An organic gardener would not, unnecessarily, kill an insect unless that insect was actually doing harm. So what are the ants doing? Are they cleaning your plants of aphids? Other insects? Ants are more often beneficial then harmful.
1. Start any insect pest control program by properly identifying the problem, if there is one.
2. Next determine what might need to be done to correct the problem.
3. If some control is necessary, apply the least toxic means of control that would help.
4. Assess the effectiveness of this method of control.
5. Return to step one.

Thanks for the replies. It looks as if the ants have eaten their way into my 2 okra buds and made themselves at home??? I think the main thing I was worried about is wether or not the ants would eat roots or the onions... so I am worried more about the things that I can't see
