Getting rid of thrips

I've had a bad thrip problem with my day lilies for years. Usually manifests in lots of dead buds on my scapes. For years I sprayed Safer on the dayliles as they were maturing and it seemed better but not really. I clean up all around the lilies in the fall. Is there some other way I can control this problem?

Thrips can be difficult to control and usually Insecticidal Soaps, Safer brand, are the first line of defense. Neem Oil products and Spinosad may be others to try with pyrethrins held as a last resort since they can be harmful to any predators of thrips that may exist. Green Lacewing, Lady Beetles and other predators should be encouraged.
