Object on/in tomato?

I pulled a green tomato out of my garden today and noticed three or four little things and look like a seed or and egg maybe which are connected to the tomato by a fiber the size of a hair. Is this some insect activity? I'm not entirely concerned with it, but just curious as I've never noticed this before.
