French marigolds reportedly repel nematodes. I've planted them in the vegetable garden for years, and have no nematode problems. Luck or fact, who knows?

Check Park Seeds "Guardian marigold". They reportedly are the best of the French marigolds to repel nematodes, though I'm sure if the French ones "work", they'd all work to some extent regardless of the named variety.

I grow a slightly dwarf bicolor French marigold (about 1 ft. tall and get almost 1 ft. wide) that I got from a family member years ago. I save the seed. I read up on marigolds once long ago and figured out they were French but I don't recall why. Don't know about nematodes, but the only time I successfully grew beets without rabbits eating them all is when they were surrounded by a big circle of my marigolds.

Here is a link that might be useful: My bicolor French dwarf marigolds

The best Marigolds for your garden are the non hybrids. It seems as plant breeders have bred out what many people think is an offensive odor from the Marigolds they have also bred out the pest repellant properties.
