| Alan Chadwick was one of the people who did the most to bring awareness of organic gardening techniques to the United States. Beginning in 1967, Alan created a series of demonstration and teaching gardens that proved to the world that organic methods can work better than conventional chemicals. | I don't know much about Chadwick, will look into it. Coincidentally, Scott Nearing also died in 1980, a great philosopher as well as gardener. |

| I'm not at all sure that i would refer to Alan Chadwick as a pioneer of Organic Gardening/Farming since he came on the scene after I was already practicing what Sir Albert Howard, Lady Eve Balfour, Friend Sykes, J. I. Rodale, Helen and Scott Nearing, Leonard Wickenden, and many others true pioneers taught me. Chadwick, as I recall, was considered at the time to be on the fringes, more into biodynamic methods. |

| I agree, by 1967 alternative gardening was well-established. Nevertheless, Chadwick was clearly a very interesting character. |
