Then I noticed the rest of the tree

I think this is one of the neatest things I've ever seen. The land owner told me he was told it was formed this way by Indians to mark boundries. Sorry it's so small -- I could not get it small enough to get under the 60 whatever to post.

They're called Indian trail trees and that tree certainly looks old enough to have been one.

I've seen those all my life and never knew they were
Indian Trail trees.

I found it so interesting that apparently these trees are found all the way from GA to IL. Thanks for that link, Suzanne... I was glad to see that even in or near towns or subdivisions a few remain. josh

WOW, I've never heard of this but so glad to find out about it. I will look out for any trees that might be from trails.
