Very cool! How nice that you actually know who the people in the pictures are........we had lots of photos and when I would ask my mom who they were she really could not remember........sigh........I like the one of great, great, great, great, great grandfather. Is he holding something in his right hand? I know his left is on his rifle but it appears there is something in his right hand also.
In the picture of your great, great,great,great grandmother I notice she is wearing a cameo, is that still in the family?

That is great great great grandfather Silas White. He is holding a rifle in left hand and a bayonette or short sword in his right hand. The picture was taken in May of 1861. He had just enlisted.

The cameo is with my cousin.
