Marda, did you see my post in discussions or is it simply a cooincidence we posted to the gallery at almost the same time?

This image is a gray one alright, I've seen many scenes just like these...there's something about the Atlantic that's so cold. We have gray days like this in the Pacific NW but they never look quite as chilling as this.

No,no coincidence. I saw your post and remembered I had these pictures. Sheila..how did you get that contrast between the cat and rocks? It looks surreal.

You are so right, Sheila. I've actually sailed both oceans and the "feel" of the weeks on the water was totally different. The coastlines are different. The water temperatures are different. I love them both.......but they are totally different. Marda, I can actually taste the air from your pictures.

Most of the contrast was there, the rocks are very dark, but I did boost the saturation on the cat just a very little bit and added a little bit of contrast overall to the image. But mostly this is how it came out of the camera.

It helped that it was an overcast evening - that's a very good light to shoot this kind of scene it, it somehow makes the colors richer. You have to avoid gray skies, but if this image presents itself the lack of sunshine is often bonus.
