Summer garden memories for Jan. 19

Obedient Plant. The name is misleading for it sends out suckers as far away as 2 feet. I tried to convince the plant that it needed to be more obedient and stay in one spot - that did not happen. It is part of the mint family, and those who have mint know what happens there!

Those are pretty plants. But it sounds like they are like most of the "mint" plants I have grown, they are thugs.
When I had my full garden, I planted mint in bottomless coffee cans, sunk into the soil. I left 1" of the can exposed on top. It took the mints three seasons to figure out how to escape from the cans and into the soil.

Very pretty picture and the obidient plant is nice to look at.

The mints have a mind of their own, I sometimes think they are a different being all together. They even managed to grow their roots through the drainhole of a planter and at the backside of it over the saucer in the ground.
