The Garden Party

Time for another poem

The keeper of the flame

Paid no attention to the fire

Only a few cinders remained.

A cold night coming

Must feed the fire

Watching to be sure

There will be heat

Come morning.

Stoked the stove

Eating chocolate

Sipping brandy

While combustion roars

And the fire can be banked.

Inattention has it's own penalties

Or rewards

What a lovely image your poem evokes; I could skip the brandy--maybe Bailey's Irish Cream, instead?--but the chocolates and warm fire make me envious.

Luv the poem. Especially the first line " The keeper of the flame". It sets the tone of the poem.

You are so good in awakening memories, I can even smell the fire and a pot of grog would stay hot on the "Kachelofen".
