Today is Neil's birthday. He would have been 88.
The children and I are going to celebrate by doing at least one of these things.

Having Pop Tarts or Frosty Flakes for breakfast.
Filling the bird feeders or just watching the birds.
Reading an article in the Wall Street Journal.
Having a fried peanut butter sandwich (not soggy!) for lunch.
Taking a nap, preferably with your favorite pet in your lap.
Going to a car dealership and looking at the latest sports car model.
Figuring out how some new gadget works and wondering at it. ("Will wonders never cease!")
Going out for ribs at the barbecue place for dinner.
Watching an old Laurel and Hardy movie or a good musical.
Listening to some Bluegrass or Opera.
Reading a good spy novel.
Having a big bowl of ice cream before going to bed!
Drinking a real Coke and exclaiming (((AHHH!)
Eating a good helping of divinity or orange slice candy.
Ordering a chicken salad sandwich on sour dough bread, no
lettuce or tomato, grilled and blotted.
Eating a BIG piece of Pecan pie.
Or just having a big ole dessert of any kind and remember
if it comes in a bowl! Eat it with a spoon.

Here's to you my sweet Neil.
I will always love you.

I raise my glass of real Coke to Neil.
All the others sound good too, but that (((AHHH!) is a winner.

Janis, Tuesday night is ice cream night at our house, and I've already had mine -- but I'm going to have another bowl in honor of Neil and his birthday!

What a wonderful list of things from which to choose to remember him. Maybe you all could do one or two every year; I bet he'd like that.
