We gain strength, and courage, and confidence by each experience in which we really stop to look fear in the face... we must do that which we think we cannot.
Eleanor Roosevelt

Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls; the most massive characters are seared with scars.
Khalil Gibran

I love those who can smile in trouble, who can gather strength from distress, and grow brave by reflection. 'Tis the business of little minds to shrink, but they whose heart is firm, and whose conscience approves their conduct, will pursue their principles unto death.
Leonardo da Vinci

Only the weak are cruel. Gentleness can only be expected from the strong.
Leo Buscaglia

You have power over your mind - not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength.
Marcus Aurelius

A mind at peace, a mind centered and not focused on harming others, is stronger than any physical force in the universe.
Wayne Dyer

Nothing is so strong as gentleness, nothing so gentle as real strength.
Saint Francis de Sales

Strength is the capacity to break a chocolate bar into four pieces with your bare hands - and then eat just one of the pieces.

I agree with Anneliese about the Marcus Aurelius quote

All the quotes have so much truth in them; I'm sure a dissertation could be written on each one.

The saying I like to use--don't know if someone said it or where I heard it -- is that "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger".

Better than that, for me, is the verse that "God will never give you more than you can bear". Mother Teresa is supposed to have said, "I wish He didn't trust me quite so much!" :>)

Guess what? At 5:54 p.m., EDT, it's snowing--and is supposed to continue till about ten a.m. on Monday.

BTW, HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY! Be sure and wear something green!

Great quotes, Don.
I agree with Leo Buscaglia's quote.
I also got a kick out of Judith Viorst's quote. That is a real test that can be performed in real time. I don't know if I can pass that test...........
