| on my return to Baltimore last year. Driving east on Rt 70 and at the eastern end of Wheeling WVa I spotted 4 nice looking but boarded up homes. I wonder how much of America is boarded up?? Anyway next week I will (weather permitting) do it again. Steve in Baltimore County. |

| Lots here in the LA basin and Inland Empire, we know a few that are upside down and see a lot of for sale owned by bank signs. They are not selling and the signs are there for months or years. |

| I work in the planning field, and all the education and emphasis historically has been on how to handle growth. Now we are trying to figure out how to deal with shrinking cities. What do you do when you have one trash pick up in three blocks? How do you redsign a water or wastewater treatment plant to serve 1/2 the number of people it was designed for? Flint Michigan and Youngstown Ohio are two of the places that are trying to get a handle on it. |
