The season begins.

Received our schedule for working at the Museum. We open March 26 instead of our usual April 1. Reason, this is the 100 anniversary of the Lincoln highway (highway 30). There will a group coming through to take pictures and get a history lesson I suppose. I have to work that day and the following day but then have 10 days off. Hope the weather warms a little we try to heat the building with 2 1500 watt electric space heaters, pretty futile.Been cold but no moisture. Government has us in the exceptional drought category again. No rain since last April and very little snow, didn't need the snowblower. The sandhills ranch country is used to drought and eventually the rains will come, maybe not this year but the native grass will come out of dormancy when it gets moisture. Quite hard on the ranchers with very little grass for grazing. Enough

Same conditions here, Gandle. Hubby and I look at our few cows every evening when we feed and discuss which ones we will possibly/probably cut if we don't get some moisture soon. We have had two small snows that came down without wind which let the snow settle beautifully on the pastures. Then we had the "blizzard" which brought quite a bit of snow but the only places it stayed on the ground was where it whipped around into the barn and lot, between the house and barn, and aroound the fence posts - everywhere except on the pastures that have been grazed down. Not complaining, as we are always thankful for whatever moisture we receive. I even applaude when a flock of birds fly over in anticipatory hope- LOL!!

Won't those heaters go up to 1850 watts? At least I think the one we keep in the well house does - or maybe not - who knows. Been too long since I have been in there and actually looked at the wattage. Be sure and keep warm. For some reason, cold weather and cold buildings seem more intense in the spring than during the winter to me. Maybe it is a mental things.....haven't a clue really.

You need to pick up on your postings. I miss reading them.

George, your posts are never "enough"! I'm pretty sure we all enjoy reading whatever it is that you've written about, and like Mary, I, too have missed them.

Wish I could send you today's rain. We had quit a bit the last couple of weeks, no snow this year. Well it's good for the water table but if it is like last year, it gets dry by May and I have to water a lot, which is not good for my wallet.
I agree with everybody else, I am always looking forward to
your posts.
Those disposable hand- and footwarmers do a pretty good job. I put them in my backpockets when I need free hands and have to wear shoes. There is a heatwrap in the muscle-ache and pain section of the drugstore which goes round your waist and another which fits over your shoulders. My husband used that during a power outage. They have no medication, just the same principle as the hand warmers, They last about 8 hours.
