dumb question about italics

Pidge

I know this has been posted a zillion times and even very recently, but I don't remember how to do italics. Is is (i)italics(i)? Well, if this shows up in the post, I guess I'll know what it is not!

this is how you do it....

Just put an i in the brackets before whatever it is you want in italics and then afterwards to make it stop you just put /i in the brackets. So it will look like this, except you use where I have ( ).

    (i) A big noreaster is headed here and I want to throw up.(/i)

I was wondering about this the other day so I'll try it (i) now(/i).

    Yippee.

One day i might even try uploading a picture.

Thanks Pidge for asking about this. I was stupidly allowing myself to remain frozen in some kind of technologically challenged mindset.

You will need to open a photobucket.com account. It's free, and easy, but not free and easy.....

not sure what you mean Steve. In explaining HTML code, you have to use ( ) instead of what you really need which is .

Not really - not if you know (or know where to look up) the special characters. Pidge, the way to make italics is as follows: <i>the word to italicize</i>

I remember playing with HTML here over the years with some amusing results. I think the code in each person's message is "turned off" at the end of the message now, but it didn't always. We'd have threads where the responses went on in boldface or italics or the color green for two or three more posts before someone caught it and did a </>

Sigh!! I 've been given all the instructions for using HTML and told to sit down for a day and practice, practice, practice. That sounds like such hard work, when all i want to do is stroll through Garden Web and read online newspapers.
But someday i will, just not today.

I tried it on Saturday and since it didn't work on the preview I didn't post it so now I can't go back and see what I did wrong. Anyway, it's working now. Thank you.
