I couldn't resist....

Over the years on the GP, I have read about your gardens, crops, farms, etc. It has been interesting as to how the different sections of the country make the food.

So, since I never have anything to contribute personally, I thought you might be interested in a crop that's being sowed in this area...

Oysters.

agnespuffin. you've touch on an important issue here. I think there may be an oyster war going on. DD lives close to an oyster farm, and there is a battle between the oyster farmers, and the local government, and the courts. It's a hot topic in ,tomalesbay, CA.

Here is a link that might be useful: Oyster issue

Interesting! I used to write for Savannah Mag.

OOPS! look as if the link didn't work. Sorry.

Anyway, they are lifting pallets of bags of oyster shells by helecopter to carry to where they want to enlarge the oyster beds. Then, they lay the old shells down in the mud and hope that they don't sink too deep.

If everything goes well, the oyster spawn will come and land on the old shells and make their home.

It's one of those "let's help Mother Nature do her thing" projects. Let's hope it works.

Lets truly hope so. Sometimes when man decides to give nature a hand it doesn't work so well.
