I'm watching In Performance At The White House on PBS. The program is titled "Memphis Blues"; what enjoyable music. Even the President can't sit still on some of the songs. I love it.

Oops! I didn't know Cyndi Lauper was part of the Memphis Blues sound. There's my age, showing, again. LOL

Cyndi Lauper is a supporter of President Obama and her talent is in more than just pop music. She would fit in in a lot of surprising places. Will look for it on the local PBS stations.

Ah man. I missed that. Sounds like it would've been right up my alley. Huge blues fan. Wonder if they'll reair it? I hope so!

Did you catch the last one that featured BB King and Buddy Guy? They also had Warren Haynes (plays with the Allman Brothers and The Dead these days), Derek Trucks (Butch Trucks' nephew, I believe) and Susan Tedeski (Derek Trucks' wife). It was such a great mix of old and new blues folks.

They even got the President to sing Sweet Home Chicago.

Oh, silly me! I forgot Trombone Shorty, Jeff Beck,and The Rolling Stones were also on stage for the blues performance. :)

mwheel, thanks for the post. I just watched the " Blues at The White House" video, and it was fun.
Some 50+ years ago, when I lived in DC, I went to plenty to jazz clubs, including the blues, but they were mostly "underground". Three flights down to a private club and after closing we went to a basement somewhere and they "jammed".
I'm so utterly happy to see the music going uptown, to the White House. It's about time.

This is scheduled to air at 3:00am Dallas time on KERA, so I set my DVR timer to record it. It does not say what performers are in it, but it does say that it originally aired on 4-16-13. is this the one you saw? It is called "In Performance At The White House"

Yes, Gail, that is the program that was aired on the PBS station in D.C. on Tuesday, 4/16/13. Gosh, 3:00 a.m., Dallas time, seems like a strange hour. Anyway, I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Jeannine, thanks for the link. I think I saw it in 2012, but it was fun to see again, esp. the finale. There's so little on TV, these days, just IMO, of course, that's worth watching, that I try not to miss shows like these.

P.S. Our temp at 7:14 a.m. is 34.3 degrees! B-r-r-r! Now I'm off to church.
