Among the interesting things within the Cathedral is the tomb of Juan Ponce de Leon, Spanish explorer and one of the earliest Spanish settlers in San Juan.

The interior of the Cathedral also has this shrine to the first Puerto Rican to be beatified.

Across the street from the church and just to the north is this structure. It used to be a Carmelite Convent. It fell into disrepair and was considered for demolition; however local preservationists managed to save it and now it is a hotel.

Turning around from my last picture, a very small park had this flower. It almost looks like an orchid, but I really don't know what it is. This picture, the El Convento picture and the front of the Cathedral were all taken from the same spot.

As I looked up from my shot of the plant, this was my view.
