candle seed from amazon

On a recent trip to Ecuador's corner of the Amazon I came upon a large seed that, if you cut the top off it and stick a wick int a nd it will burn like a candle. The seed is about three inches in height, and two inches wide and kind of flattish and pale in color. It is one of a few in the fruiting body. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what the name of the tree it came from might be called?
