What fun it would be to go looking for an outlandish hat for a wonderfully traditional horse race.I think I'd much rather do that than dress up for a Halloween costume party. We sure don't wear hats much over here. I guess everyone is too concerned with messing up their hair,or have no where to go to wear a hat.Speaking of hats, did all of you see this comparison of Fergie's daughters and Cinderella?

There were a few I'd actually thought stylish, the outlandish ones were worn in a spirit of fun, the wearers all looked as though they knew this was absurd head-wear and their escorts went along with the spirit. The only one who had no sense of humor was that horse.

God Save the Queen. Good taste as always. What a lovely, lovely hat. Steve in Stevens County.

Like at the Kentucky Derby, the hats are the fun. The VIPs get to wear the serious hats and for the rest it's the more outlandish the more entertaining.

I agree with Steve, the Queen had on a beautiful hat and as always she looked great. There must be some history behind the hats at the Ascot. I luv watching the ladies and their hats at the Kentucky Derby. So stylish and fun. I hope they don't try to copy the Ascot hats.

West Gardener, you see only the few hats during the NBC broadcast. We here have local transmission from 8 AM on and you should see some of the creations!

Oh no, say it ain't so, anneliese. I have this picture in my mind about the Derby ladies, dressed in spring finery, with a wide brimmed hat and the decoration would be at the most a cabbage rose. I have an issue with the Ascot people dressing the horses in the hats.
