Confucius says...is used as such a cliche, but he spoke truth

I like this one:
"If you think in terms of a year, plant a seed; if in terms of ten years, plant trees; if in terms of 100 years, teach the people."

In real life, the circle of life goes on for centuries. My grandfather brought me to forests that border Norway and Russia that burn about every 100 years. He pointed out the seeds that would only open after a hot fire, and start the circle again. He also pointed out the understory plants that would grow below the trees. He also pointed out how the animals and insects would hide out until the threat was over.
I keep planting seeds.
