Does the seasonal creek ever become a roaring river? If so, it's good that it's at the bottom of that 100' drop. We have poison ivy around here; don't know if I'd recognize poison oak.

During the rain-season, after heavy down-pour the seasonal creek does become a roaring river. Salmon used to go upriver to spawn, but the timber industry and their clear-cutting has done a lot of damage and salmon are not around here any more.

Re the salmon running. The Russian River also had all kinds of problems that would endanger the salmons. The powers to be and the fishing/tourist community got together and cleared a run from Jenner, where the Russian River meets the ocean, to the spawning grounds. They built man-made ladders, restricted fishing and boating during spawning season.
There is a way to undo and improve.

I know about the salmon restorations in some areas, it's the State that determines the importance, and my county is not really a tourist/fishing destination, except on the Coast..

Totally awesome! I may be immune to poison oak now, I've been exposed so many times! And poison ivy and poison sumac... every coast and then some. I love it. Do you get to see a lot of critters?

Rob, there are many, but some are only "seen" by their scat, they travel at night.
Birds: ground doves and a lot of mourning doves, quail, wild turkeys, crows and raven, of course and turkey vultures, various song-birds: meadow-larks and tanagers gold-finches, fly-catchers and wood-peckers.
