Even an old fiddle need some TLC and a lot of care be to play the finest notes.
Some new strings when needed, proper housing to keep the wood from either drying/swelling, the proper finish for the wood, so the notes can be heard, and a lot of fine tuning so the best music can be heard.
It is a high maintenance instrument.
How do I know this?
My Onkel Sverre had an old fiddle. He never married,And he never understood why he had no luck with women.We , the family, said that if he paid even half the attention to the women in is life, that he paid to his fiddle. He would find a woman that would play his song.
