Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.
Arthur C. Clarke

The march of science and technology does not imply growing intellectual complexity in the lives of most people. It often means the opposite.
Thomas Sowell

All of the books in the world contain no more information than is broadcast as video in a single large American city in a single year. Not all bits have equal value.
Carl Sagan

Making duplicate copies and computer printouts of things no one wanted even one of in the first place is giving America a new sense of purpose.
Andy Rooney

Humanity is acquiring all the right technology for all the wrong reasons.
R. Buckminster Fuller

Technology is supposed to make our lives easier, allowing us to do things more quickly and efficiently. But too often it seems to make things harder, leaving us with fifty-button remote controls, digital cameras with hundreds of mysterious features and book-length manuals, and cars with dashboard systems worthy of the space shuttle.
James Surowiecki

The newest computer can merely compound, at speed, the oldest problem in the relations between human beings, and in the end the communicator will be confronted with the old problem, of what to say and how to say it.
Edward R. Murrow

The Internet is so big, so powerful and pointless that for some people it is a complete substitute for life.
Andrew Brown

We live in a society exquisitely dependent on science and technology, in which hardly anyone knows anything about science and technology. This is a prescription for disaster. We might get away with it for a while, but sooner or later this combustible mixture of ignorance and power is going to blow up in our faces.
Carl Sagan

Even with all our technology and the inventions that make modern life so much easier than it once was, it takes just one big natural disaster to wipe all that away and remind us that, here on Earth, we're still at the mercy of nature.
Neil deGrasse Tyson

Technology can be our best friend, and technology can also be the biggest party pooper of our lives. It interrupts our own story, interrupts our ability to have a thought or a daydream, to imagine something wonderful, because we're too busy bridging the walk from the cafeteria back to the office on the cell phone.
Steven Spielberg

We have more media than ever and more technology in our lives. It's supposed to help us communicate, but it has the opposite effect of isolating us.
Tracy Chapman

As connected as we are with technology, it's also removed us from having to have human connection, made it more convenient to not be intimate.
Sandra Bullock

Will be in hospital tomorrow night for sleep study. If one or more would like to fill in for fun it would be appreciated. Told me to bring jammies and teddy bear.

Fantastic quotes, and so right on.
I'll be happy to toss in a quote or two, take care and come back rested.

Aside from the sleep issue, how are your other medical issues doing, Don?

So often, things that we now take for granted, are truly incredible and almost magical. The advances in medicine, science, and technology , to name just a few, are mind- boggling. Yet, as many of the writers observed, we are no closer, nor do we communicate any better, than we did when we didn't have them.

Don, fingers are crossed and good thoughts and prayers are coming your way for a good night's sleep and a resolution to your problem.

Timely quotes about technology, considering your sleep study, Don. I'm guessing that a few wires, perhaps a computer or two, video camera(s) will be involved to measure your sleep or lack of it.
But when it comes down to it, it is up to us humans to interpret the info and take whatever action we need to take.

I'll be glad to contribute a quote here and there, lilo, you go first. Let me know.
