Grandson and wife are always exercising and after they had finished aa set of push ups, he asked their soon to be 4 in August,"how many push ups can you do?" His reply, "I don't know, we don't even have any fish". Granddaughter in-law thought we ought to be working on that one Isn't that an example of a non sequiter?

I can't answer that question. But we had another puzzle.

Whenever we brought our then 4yo GS to the playground, he would removed his shoes and socks, line them u[p in the sand and do a dance around them.
We told our DD about it, and she said that was part of a children's show he watched.
Many things influence behavior.
