Oh how we love pumpkin season. You did know this gourd-ish squash has its own season, right? Winter, Spring, Summer, Pumpkin.... We anxiously anticipate it every year. ~Trader Joe's Fearless Flyer, October 2010

falling leaves
hide the path
so quietly
~John Bailey, "Autumn," a haiku year, 2001, as posted on oldgreypoet.com

The days may not be so bright and balmyyet the quiet and melancholy that linger around them is fraught with glory. Over everything connected with autumn there lingers some golden spellsome unseen influence that penetrates the soul with its mysterious power. ~Northern Advocate

Like the quotes for autumn. Baked a butternut squash , pealed it and cut it into serving size and froze it. Yum.
Pumpkins are everywhere and yes, including "Trader Joe's".
I'm ready for fall.

On the way home today we saw a maple tree, half green and half starting to go red and the last two nights there was a noticable nip in the air. Getting hot gain tomorrow or, as we say in German "Altweiber Sommer" ( Old women's summer).

Ja, here they call it "Indian Summer' but today I got concerned for the night temps,, "official" and my micro-climate are vastly divergent, so if NOAA says 40-something here, it often means 30-something on my place, so I picked all tomatoes, pink and green, putting them into the pantry to ripen.
