Legislation has been and is still directed towards the protection of wealth, rather than towards the far more important interests of labor on which everything of value to mankind depends.
Leland Stanford

During times of war, hatred becomes quite respectable even though it has to masquerade often under the guise of patriotism.
Howard Thurman

There is something in every one of you that waits and listens for the sound of the genuine in yourself. It is the only true guide you will ever have. And if you cannot hear it, you will all of your life spend your days on the ends of strings that somebody else pulls.
Howard Thurman

Thanks for the quotes, Don. They were thought provoking.
Especially the Leland Stanford one.

"Legislation has been and is still directed towards the protection of wealth, rather than towards the far more important interests of labor on which everything of value to mankind depends."
Leland Stanford

So true, so true, and Stanford was one of the people making legislation to protect the rich. His statement "rather than towards the far more important interests of labor on which everything of value to mankind depends." It's true. He is right again, he depended and exploited "labor".
It's interesting how a quote can sound one way, and how the manipulation of words can influence thinking.
