Great quotes, Jim. I often think about planting more oak trees, but then I think....I won't live long enough to see them become big, beautiful trees, so I haven't planted any in about 5 years. Yep, I can relate to your quotes.

I like trees and we have planted several on our property while we have been here for the past 40 years. We have also removed some of the trees.But we follow the rules.
However, we live in a tree crazy city, and it is very difficult to remove a tree.
My city:"

Good quotes and I love your maple. The water maples which came with the house were young when we moved in, but had to be cut down when they started to die back after about 20 years. The oaks in back are all over 50 years old and soon some of them have to be removed, they had been damaged by ice and are starting to become a menace for the neighbors.
I planted 2 weeping beech trees, seedlings I found next to the mother tree, soon to be destroyed for a developement.
I forgot how big they get and am afraid one of them has to go also, too close to the power lines.
