Anneliese, thank you for these quotes; each one is significant--not only for Veteran's Day, but any day, any week, any month, any year -- any and all of the time.

(And nobody talks about the civilians in a war zone - me)
I talk about it, (Norway WW2), my neighbor talks about it (England WW2), my other neighbor talks about it (Germany WW2), my other neighbor talks about it (Italy WW2), we agree that we lived through hell, the other thing we agree about is that we are so utterly grateful for is that the Americans came in to help save our freedom.
All your quotes are great for this day.

West_gardener, while we may talk about it person to person, PTSD for civilians officially does not exists, despite that I have seen plenty of people with it.
Well, to tell the truth, WWI and WWII soldiers did not either, the worst cases were send home with shellshock and mostly not treated. For the soldiers it is getting slowly better.

I know PTSD help does not exist for civilians , that's why I'm so glad that I met with people in my neighborhood that had similar war experience, I know I'm not alone. That helps a lot.
