So I went to pay my student loan this morning. It's five figures. Two days ago, they sent a statement saying I owed the same five figures. When I logged on to pay it, it said it had been paid in full yesterday and I can't make a payment. Now that I am more awake, I am realizing they probably sold my loan to another loan administrator, but it sure would be fun if I had an anonymous benefactor. I can't stop giggling at the thought of having a sugar-daddy!

Robb, as funny as it seems, please be careful. We had a similar problem with a mortage payment years ago. The old loan company did not accept, did not hear from the new one and then got a call from a collection agency 4 weeks later. It did take several calls to the old agency to find out to where our account went and calls there to straigten things out. Luckily we had double paid several times and where not behind, but ahead of the amount owed.

I've contacted them twice already today. If I don't hear back by next week, I'll bug them again. That's ok, they're system is so screwy, I pay them monthly, as THEIR statements request/require, but they track things daily. So even when I pay extra/early, it doesn't count if there are too many "days" inbetween payments. Don't get it? Neither do I. Something like this: Payment is due October 1, but I pay it September 25 So the next one is due November 1, but I pay it October 31 I don't get any credit for early paying, nor does it go towards the interest, even though I paid both before the due date. Why not? Their answer is because there are more than 30 days inbetween payments. So I now have outstanding interest. But not because I didn't pay/paid late. And that is the straightest answer they can give me. So much for trying to be a good steward of the government's account. Shame on the administrator! I've hated every interaction with them, and I have never, not in years, had a phone conversation end with something being cleared up or without me hanging up them. They're the only organization about which I can say that. Banks frustrate me, but I get things cleared up with them and never hang up. OY! Nelnet in case you wondered.

Yep, sold my loan. It sure made me laugh when I thought about someone being MY sugar daddy! Least, I wasn't too frustrated. And, I'm not with Nelnet anymore. Hurray!
