I remember going to the drygood store with my mother and looking thru the pattern books as she picked out material etc. I think the patterns were 25 cents, with one kind being 35 cents. Boy am I showing my age. I knew at a young age I did not have the eye for clothes making. I must have been 7 and I selected the beautiful garden floral print. Lots of green. I can still see it. Mom said it won't make up like you want. I insisted. She was right.
Maybe the floral print was an early sign that gardening was going to be my forte.

Congradulations on your big savings. May all your sewing be worthy of Project Runway.

when i put away my receipts i found $28 more in savings..the gun cleaning kit i bought for my son for Christmas was priced $39.99 but the receipt said it was on sale for $19.99 and i didn't even notice..and i saved $8 on the mirror i bought for Ron, thought i only saved $6..so i was even happier with my day when i saw that.

real blessings for me..as we only had $16 left after all was said and done

I took my 4-H sewing girls to Joanne's last year to pick out their patterns and fabric. It takes about 3 hours and sometimes a lot of tears to get just the right pattern and fabric. The 99 cent pattern sale is this weekend and this years group may be going. Patterns are so much more difficlut to use than they only had one size to a pattern.
But, I have found the girls to be more skillful, patient and creative than when I was learning how to sew. I can not believe that anyone could spend $15 for a pattern.
