diggint to China

When my brother and I were very young we would sometimes get spoons from the kitchen and try to dig to China. ( no one ever said we were brilliant.) It really kept us busy which of course was the reason for mom giving us the idea in the first place. Anyway..earlier today when I was working on the property,Digby was being a real pain so I told him to go dig to China. I'm giving him and A for effort. This took him about 20 minutes.

What a cutie! Looking at him gave me a big smile. Will he mind if/when you wipe the dirt off of his nose. :>)

Thank you dear Marda for sharing these pictures. I got a big belly laugh and I needed one this morning. Still laughing over his muddy nose. He really put some effort into it, didn't he? Precious little man.

He really takes this job seriously, doesn't he? And so proud of himself!

His eyes are just so adorable! Even if he wasn't into digging like he is, I'd have to say, Digby really fits him. That is such a good name for him. Your mom was much smarter than mine, evidently, as mine just told us "to dig" in general (we too, were to dig to China). You'd make a much smaller mess with spoons! ;) Luckily, our entire backyard was sand (we lived by the beach).

What a cutie! Mind if I borrow him? He could help my cat Midnight dig out a gopher. Her claws just can't dig fast enough.

LOVE that third photo. I, too, have a digger-to-China. Mine usually doesn't stop until she finds the thing after which she was digging. It's such a pleasure to be gifted with ex-vermin AND a big ol' hole that needs to be re-filled (NOT)... but my heart melts and I instantly forgive when I see the earnest look in the eyes and the muddy face of optimism like Digby has...

Love it! He's so proud of himself!

He is so cute and he looks like he enjoys the digging. I have a few Four O'Clocks that he can dig up.

That is about the neatest picture I've seen in a long time. Who couldn't love anyone with a face like that?

I love him, Marda.
He looks like a little teddy bear.
Talk about making you laugh out loud every day.

I love that dog, Marda. I've been giving some thought to getting a companion for Rags and if I could get a female version of Digby..well, I'd snap her up,.

Too bad your breeder isn't in my neighborhood. I wonder if she knows someone in my area.

Digby is wonderful.

Sheila...a poodle would make a wonderful companion for Rags but just remember, they easily can live to 15 years and most do.Make sure you have someone lined up to take over just in case.

That is one cute little guy. I love his haircut -- makes him still look like a puppy.

My brother and I also used to dig holes, but not to China. We called them Pappy-traps,hoping our father would step in one. I think our idea came from the Heffalump traps in Winnie the Pooh.

I like the way Marda keeps him groomed, too. We used to have a poodle and we called that a puppy cut. I think the dog is most comfortable in one and yes....they look like perpetual teddy bears. Especially so with their dark, shoe-button eyes.

Pappy-traps? Got my second belly laugh of the day. OMGosh Nora.......

I think I missed out on a necessary child-hood ritual. I don't think I dug holes.

I do have that in place, Marda, for Rags. But the longevity of an animal is what really prevents me from getting a young one now. Someone I know has a three year old poodle, the woman is eighty and the dog might readily outlive her.

Digby will outlive me,I'm pretty sure, unless I kill him first. He has been a holy terror all day. Maybe it's the change in the weather,I don't know but he's been wild wild wild. I love "pappy trap" too. What a great name for a hole.
