We finally are on shore in Bora Bora. The place where the tenders land is Vaitape. There is a nice welcome center and then you walk onto the main street. The only street. It goes around the island along the perimeter. If you were to look closely at a map of the island you would not see many other roads.

Turning right from where I shot the last photo, you see the Pareo store. Lots of nice things there.

We went into Le Galerie and purchased several things. You see that salt and pepper in the lower right? That is now in our next door neighbor's house. If you ever get to Bora Bora be sure to take enough luggage to bring home lots of neat stuff!

As usual, I just walked around a bit. This is the local school yard. The kids ignored the tourists, they were too busy having fun.

Our ship, Holland America's Statendam and a ship that carried a lot of Aussies. We had not made plans, so when a bunch of them wanted more warm bodies to take an excursion, we did that. The missus had a blast and now she wants to fly to Australia just to cruise with them!

Here are some plants growing from some old lava. This has to be very old, as I cannot find anything that indicates the last time there was an eruption on Bora Bora.

The roots from these palm trees are working their way to the water. The water is always there, I don't know why they need to go searching for it.
