The Oregon Garden

On a whim, the BILs and I decided to visit the Oregon Garden in Silverton, about an hour SE of Portland. We had all heard of it, but I understood it to be a small display garden attached to a resort hotel. We were blown away when we arrived, this is a full scale botanical garden, 80 acres, with expansions taking place as we speak. Definitely a must-see if we decide to do a PNW IU in the future.

This garden has one of the most impressive conifer collections I've ever seen, and they are in the process of doubling it's size.

Beautiful, Kathy - it reminds me of the Mendecino Botanic Garden we saw (as a more mature stage). I love that decorative wavy ironwork - such a simple concept but so neat looking in its execution.

Can't wait to see more photos!

Oh Wow Kathy, talk about serendipity!

Is that sort of crawling conifer a Cobra? I saw one for the first time yesterday....

There are days when I wish I had more space! Or made better use of what I have.

    I love your photo shoots!

    Cheers,

    Julie

The pergola and wavy ironwork caught my eye the most - any wines on either of those?

It certainly looks like a place well worth visiting!

I love the way so many conifers look as though they could just come alive and walk around on their own.

    Wonderful pics, Kathy!

Love your comment, Cyn - these conifers indeed look like they could start walking any time -- hmmm, maybe we've been watching too many movies - it reminds me of the Forest in Lord of the Rings movies!!
