Some politics can enter into the craft as well. Here you see a commentary on inflation. The bank is made out of actual currency (worthless) and the people are depicted standing in line to with draw their money. People can wait for DAYS in line for money, which changes in value as they wait.

This is a scene of the old port of Mombassa in Kenya. It used an old photo as a model because the modern city is very different and industrialized. I loved the water's texture!

I also met the artist of this work. She is of Indian origin and her bead work is wonderful. There is machine embroidery involved as well. The lighting does not allow us to see how this work sparkles. A really fine piece!

This quilt is called "Rocks" and intrigued me. Note the textured vertical snake. Very handsome I think!
