Computer accents for French

1. Switch on Num Lock (top left of number pad)
2. Hold down Alt and type the following numbers from the right-hand number pad.

128 = Ç
135 = ç
131 = â
0194 = Â
133 = à
0192 = À
130 = é
144 = É
136 = ê
0202 = Ê
137 = ë
0203 = Ë
138 = è
2000 =(doesn't work for me...)
139 = ï
140 = î
0206 = Î
147 = ô
0212 = Ô
0156 = œ
0140 = Œ
150 = û
151 = ù
174 = «
175 = »

Do you do that before or after you type the word?

Before each letter needing an accent. Try a few words. Told you it was slow and painful!

I tried LA foret...

typed in "for" hit number lock and 136... didn't work.

Am I "thick"?

Thanks for the info Marie! I copied and pasted it into a word document so I could save it for future use.

Chelone, type in "for" then hold down the ALT key while typing 136. My num lock key is always on, so I don't have to worry about doing that.
