| What are these things!! I was moving 2 Chocolate Snakeroots and discovered that these creepies are throughout my back bed that was put in last year. The bed is a mixture of soil and mushroom manure that had mulch on it last year and now more mulch down just last week. Everywhere I dig I find hundreds. All my plants seem to be doing fine and all the bulbs came up fine also.
I have never had anything like these in any of my other beds. Do I need to worry? Thanks!! |

| I'd guess they are millipedes... although ours are usually a dark color. They feed on rotting organic matter, and are just one of the many organisms that help to break it down into soil. They don't harm plants. |

| Yes...a third opinion even...those are millipedes. Great helpers in the decomposing process...however they will sometimes chop a seedlings up now and then, but with all the other goodies in the mulch they'll be happy with just that :) Vera |
