Seems like balloon flower was grown a lot more a decade ago...don't see it much these days (or maybe I'm just not looking hard enough).

RE: Balloon Flower

I have about 15 balloon flowers in a large cluster, and they look fantastic. One of my all time favorite perennials. So beautiful, it's hard to believe it's a perennial and not an annual.

Is that your website you posted the link to? Wow! It's one of the very best garden sites I've ever seen. I bookmarked it for sure.

I have the shorter one that only grows to about 6-8 inches high. I love it and keep it right outside my back door.

I've heard that it doesn't like to be disturbed because of its long taproot and was wondering how you propagate it--division or cuttings?

I saw it in Japan grown as a pot plant (staked). It looked like blue lilies.
