 o
Columbine Hybrid

I was surprised to find this hybrid Columbine among some Aquilegia canadensis which I've grown for years. I have some solid dark blue Columbine about 25 feet away, and previously had a few of a cultivated variety at about the same distance. The hybrid apparently came from seed of the A. canadensis in the photo. Its pale pink with white and the flowers are much larger than the species.

INteresting! Would the hybrid necessarily be so much larger than the species? And the color is a surprise!
