| they're not in the ground yet but I'm putting them in front of my veronica and salvia (way in the back there are some just planted tall snaps) and in front of the gaillardia i'll put some lilac wave petunias.

Ooh - that's a nice, big plant. I planted one last year, but it was leggy when I planted it and it stayed leggy and flopped all year, but the flowers were pretty. This year it started to come back, then just stopped and did nothing. I dug it up and potted it because I wasn't sure whether it was alive or dead or what! I just noticed that it's starting to grow again, but it's like an inch tall! Weird lol!! It's a very pretty plant tho. It's going to look very nice with the blue behind it. Good choice! Lisa

thanks Lisa. some people here suggested that summer's kiss is hard to overwinter because it basically flowers itself to death and therefore doesnt' develop good root systems to survive the winter. I don't know I'm taking a chance anyways. I might cut it back earlier in the fall to force the flowers to be done and then encourage root growth. We'll see if I have the will power to do that. Thanks again for looking.

Illini is that gaillardia bright yellow? Summer kiss is a sort of salmon with a slightly yellow ring around the edge and or center.

flowersandthings.... the flowers start out a nice deep apricot color (not exactly pastel, somewhat bright but not shocking bright at all) and sort of fade to yellow. I know in this pic they just look plain yellow.

Sometimes it is hard to pick up colors in pics. Gaillardia summer kiss though is nice for its apricot as you say color. I love apricots/salmons in the garden! :)
