I started these from seed last year, so this is my first blooming. Not your usual Campanula shaped flower. The plants are very bushy and grow about 2 ½ feet tall. Flowers are about 1 inch across. I think I’m going to like this one.

That is gorgeous, love that blue color. For some reason I haven't had much luck growing campanula from seed.

Hi
The Tall Bellflower has become one of my favorites. Got any tips on starting from seed as I've collected many? The largest plant I spotted this summer was over 5 foot tall.

TIA
Steve

Nice flowers, but the name is wrong.

This plant is actually Campanulastrum americanum- it used to be Campanula americana, but it has been reassigned to its own genus because of the unique structure of the flowers

Steve

I checked my notes and this one was sown on 12/11 and then put in the refrigerator for 3 months. After that, it needs temps around 68 F and light to germinate. I guess it's a biennial. The original plants died after flowering, but reseeded, so I now have some nice ones in the garden which should flower next year.

fledgeling - Thanks for the info about the name change.
