| I was asked to help identify this plant, but I don't know this one. This is what I was told:
That person's grandmother has had it in her garden and passed it on to other family members. Nobody has ever known this plants name except this is 'grandma's plant'. She was apparently very frugal which leads me to believe she found this plant growing somewhere and transplanted it to her garden in Bristol, Pennsylvania. It blooms in summer. It spreads by runners (similar like the roots of a common goldenrod). The stems and leaves have fuzzy hairs. The stem is not a square like a salvia or mint. From each node grow 3 leaves. The multiple, yellow flowers arise from the points of the leaf nodes. It likes sun; grows to about 3 feet tall. |

| Could it be of the one of the inula family, maybe? |

| Thanks for the replies so far, but it is neither an inula nor a lysamachia. As soon as that plant gets some flowers on it I will try to post some additional pictures for better identification purposes. |

| Do you think there's any chance it could be a form of Oenothera? |

| Could it be flowering tobacco? Mendy |

| That looks a lot like Phygelius capensis (Cape Fuchsia). I overwinter it in a greenhouse in my climate, but I think it might be hardy in yours. Are the flowers tubular? Here is a link to info on Phygelius. |
